01The long-run number
A 96% RTP slot returns $96 per $100 wagered on average over millions of spins. Your session sits nowhere near that average — you're sampling a tiny slice of a huge distribution. RTP tells you the price of the game, not tonight's outcome. The inverse (4%) is the house edge: the fee for playing.
Small differences compound. Playing a 92% slot instead of a 96% one doubles the long-run cost of your play. Checking RTP in a game's info panel takes ten seconds and is the single highest-value habit in slot selection.
02Volatility is the feel of the game
Two 96% slots can play completely differently. Low volatility pays small and often — long sessions, small swings.
